Exporting to Word, PDF, LaTeX and Markdown

Beaver can export a note, a single response, or a whole chat as a Word, PDF, LaTeX, or Markdown file. Citations are formatted in your citation style, and a bibliography is added automatically. Export is available in Beaver 0.26 and later.

Beaver does not write files itself. To get a document, ask Beaver to write it as a note, then export the note.

Write a literature review on neighborhood effects and education as a note so I can export it to Word

What You Can Export

  • A note: use the Export button on the note in the chat, at the end of the response that created or edited it, or Export with Beaver in the More menu of Zotero's note editor. This works for any Zotero note, not only notes Beaver wrote. The export shows the note as it is now, including later edits by you or Beaver. A note Beaver proposed must be saved to Zotero before it can be exported.
  • A response: open the More options menu under the response and choose Export.
  • A whole chat: open the chat menu and choose Export. The file includes every prompt, response, and note in the chat.

Choose a format, then where to save the file.

Formats

  • Word: citations are live Zotero citations. With the Zotero Word plugin you can refresh them, change the citation style, and keep citing from your library in the same document.
  • PDF: a formatted, ready-to-share document.
  • LaTeX: a .tex file with a matching .bib file next to it. If Better BibTeX is installed, its citation keys are used.
  • Markdown: plain text with formatted citations and a bibliography.

Tips

  • Don't ask Beaver to add a reference list to a note you plan to export. Export builds the bibliography from the note's citations, so a manual list would appear twice.
  • If Beaver has proposed note edits that you have not approved yet, the export uses the note as it is now and tells you that changes are pending.
